Guild Guitars - Made To Be Played Since 1953

The Guild Guitar line was founded as a quality alternative to the Gibson-Epiphone merger. Alfred Dronge and George Mann formed a partnership and registered the Guild name in October of 1952. By the end of 1956, the success of Guild's early efforts forced the company to seek out a larger facility, which it found across the river in Hoboken, New Jersey. Guild attracted the biggest guitarists of the day. Johnny Smith worked with the factory to develop a signature guitar which became the Artist Award. The Guild brand continued steadily until 1995, when it was bought by Fender, the ensuing years were a turbulent time for the brand, but it still managed to churn out quality instruments. In 2014, Guild was acquired by the Cordoba Music Group from Fender, and production of USA-made Guilds returned to California. In 2023 Yamaha Guitar Group further broadened its offerings for guitarists by acquiring Córdoba Music Group. As it grew, Guild Guitars, with its own impressive history dating back to 1953, was added to the CMG portfolio in 2014. The integration of brands from Córdoba Music Group—Córdoba® and Guild® guitars, HumiCase® instrument cases, and DeArmond® pickups—extends the already wide variety of offerings for acoustic, electric, and bass guitar products from Yamaha, Line 6, and Ampeg.
